Drone Photography

Framing photos from above instead of from the side has forced me to rethink a lot of my rules for what makes a good shot. I’ve really enjoyed having to challenge myself to let go of those rules and to develop a new intuition for where to be and when to be there. One real surprise which I never expected is how much water changes looking straight down vs from the side. Limiting all the reflections and refractions of light totally changes the color and transparency of water. I like having that choice to make when framing piers, rocks, cliffs and other water features.
